IRCTC Cancellation Rules Summary

IRCTC levies cancellation charges per passenger based on the class of travel and how close you are to the train's scheduled departure time.

Time of Cancellation (Confirmed Tickets) Cancellation Charge (Per Passenger)
48 Hours onwards (before departure) Flat Fee: ₹240 (1A), ₹200 (2A), ₹180 (3A/CC), ₹120 (SL), ₹60 (2S)
48 Hours to 12 Hours (before departure) 25% of base fare OR Flat fee (whichever is higher)
12 Hours to 4 Hours / Chart Preparation 50% of base fare OR Flat fee (whichever is higher)
Less than 4 Hours (E-Tickets) NO REFUND (Unless TDR is filed under specific conditions)

RAC & Waitlisted Tickets

If your ticket status is RAC or Waitlisted, a flat clerkage charge of ₹60 + GST per passenger is deducted if the ticket is canceled up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. No refund is granted after that.

Tatkal Tickets

There is no refund on the cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. If the Tatkal ticket is waitlisted or RAC, normal RAC/WL refund rules apply.
